An Interview with SMART General President Joe Sellers

A second-generation worker in the sheet metal industry, Joe Sellers took over in 2015 as general president of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, the labor union commonly known as SMART. SMACNA recently spoke with Sellers about some of SMART’s latest developments. Adapting to rapidly evolving technological advancements and improving workforce forecasting techniques are among the union’s top objectives at the moment.

Todd Hill is SMACNA’s Vice President and is president of Allen Park, Michigan-based Ventcon. Ventcon has a long history serving companies in the Detroit area with commercial and industrial services, including several customers in the automotive industry. In 2022, Ventcon expanded its manufacturing footprint by building a new facility in Jackson, TN to service the Blue Oval City in Haywood County and BlueOvalSK Battery Park in central Kentucky.

Best Practice 104: SMACNA Kansas City and SMART Local 2 Local Partnership Conference and Joint Progr

SMACNA Kansas City and SMART Local 2 came together on strategic planning efforts in order to identify and address their top concerns. Together they applied for and received funding from the national SMACNA-SMART Best Practices Market Expansion Task Force to hold a local partnership conference, where they established a structure to ensure that action items would move forward in an effort to improve market share in the Kansas City area.
